Time Is Ripe to Make Interactional Moves: Bringing Evidence From Four Languages Across Modalities

چکیده
Sign language linguistics has largely focused on lexical, phonological, and morpho-syntactic structures of sign languages, leaving the facets interaction overlooked. One reason underlying study smaller units in initial stages development field was a pressing concern to ground languages as linguistic. The interactive domain been sidestepped gesture studies, too, where one dominant approach rooted psycholinguistic models arguing for gesture’s tight relationship with speech part language. While these approaches analyzing have fruitful, they can lead view abstracted from its natural habitat: face-to-face interaction. Such an understanding how manifests itself—one that takes granted conversational exchange—cannot account interactional practices deployed by deaf hearing individuals within across various ecological niches. متن کاملInvestigating Communicative Feedback Phenomena across Languages and Modalities
This thesis deals with human communicative behaviour related to feedback, analysed across languages (Italian and Swedish), modalities (auditory versus visual) and different communicative situations (human-human versus human-machine dialogues). The aim of this study is to give more insight into how humans use communicative behaviour related to feedback and at the same time to suggest a method to...
متن کاملBraincutting for psychiatrists: the time is ripe.
In the past two decades, neuroscientific investigations such as postmortem and neuroimaging studies have revealed a variety of regional brain disturbances in major mental illnesses. These emerging findings are difficult to appreciate fully without a sufficient grasp of the neuroanatomy of the regions identified in these studies. The authors have developed, for psychiatrists-in-training, a brain...
